Not sure what goes in your Recycling bin, or your FOGO bin, or perhaps you want to keep up to date with your bin collections or book in an on-call household clean-up? If that’s the case, it’s time for you to download the Wollongong Waste App and start scrolling!
The free Wollongong Waste App is your one-stop for up-to-date information on Council’s Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO), recycling, and waste services.
Designed specifically for Wollongong residents, the app includes a range of handy options including:
- a personalised bin collection calendar
- reporting avenue for illegal dumping
- an A-Z guide of Waste and Recycling
- booking a household clean-up
- booking bin repairs and much more.
You can also find in-depth information on which of the three (green, yellow and red-lidded) household bins to use, and details on what’s accepted at the Community Recycling Centre at Kembla Grange.
At the same time, we’ve updated the Wollongong Waste Website, giving the site a fresh new look. The new website is easier to navigate, user-friendly and contains helpful information for Wollongong residents.
“So far we’ve seen a bit of an up-tick in the numbers of residents using the new app since we launched it at the end of last year. In the first six weeks of the launch, we saw about 1150 downloads which is great,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.
“The Wollongong Waste App is personalised and Wollongong-focused offering a great tool for our residents to find extensive information on their green, yellow and red-lidded household bins.
“This year, Council will continue a strong focus on education especially now that the majority of our eligible residents have received a FOGO collection service. We’ll be working hard to teach our community the do’s and don’ts of using all of their bins, so that we can see an even greater improvement in how well we recycle and FOGO as a city.”
Residents can download the app by simply searching for ‘Wollongong Waste’ from the App Store for Apple devices or Google Play for Android devices.
