Heat timetable for some V/Line services

Vic Department of Transport

Extreme heat timetables will be in place on the Geelong/Warrnambool and Ballarat/Ararat/Maryborough lines on Sunday with temperatures expected to soar into the high 30s.

Coaches are replacing trains for planned works in the north east and on the Swan Hill line in the north-west.

On Monday, extreme heat timetables will be in place for Seymour and Shepparton line services. A partial heat timetable will also be in place on the Bendigo and Echuca lines, meaning trains will likely slow down on the northern section of the line only.

Coaches are currently replacing Swan Hill services until 27 February.

Passengers are urged to check the V/Line website or ask for a copy of the extreme heat timetable from their nearest staffed station before travelling.

Extreme heat timetables are implemented when temperatures exceed 36 degrees in order to reduce the likelihood of train and track faults, while also keeping passengers safe.

During extreme heat, trains run at slower than normal speeds and may depart and arrive at different times. Passengers are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys.

There will be drinking water on board trains and passengers are also encouraged to travel with bottled water and wear cool clothing.

Please check the V/Line website prior to travelling to plan your journey.

If you’re travelling on public transport, or in a taxi or rideshare service, you must wear a fitted mask covering your nose and mouth for the entire journey.
