Those with an interest in the city’s mineralogical history are invited to take part in engagement sessions to create a new masterplan for the Albert Kersten Mining and Minerals Museum (GeoCentre).
The masterplan will consider what changes can be made to the Museum’s operations and physical layout to provide a better user experience.
Council has engaged specialist regional architect Troppo to assist with the plan, and representatives of the firm will be in attendance at both engagement sessions.
The sessions will be held at the GeoCentre, located at the corner of Crystal and Bromide Streets, on August 24 (4pm-6pm) and August 25 (3pm-5pm).
Council’s Gallery & Museum Manager, Kathy Graham, encouraged all interested locals to attend.
“The GeoCentre holds a wealth of mining and mineralogical history, and I’m sure most locals would agree it has the potential to be a far better attraction than it is currently,” said Ms Graham.
“We’d love to hear the community’s ideas on what would bring the Museum to life; not just for tourists, but for locals, students, academics, and people from all walks of life.”
