Help us protect our beautiful coastline

Sunshine Coast Council has started its journey to develop ‘Our Resilient Coast. Our Future’, a long-term strategy to help manage the impacts of coastal hazards and increase the resilience of our region.

We’re calling on the community to share their insights and experiences about how our coast has changed over time, as well as help us better understand the implications of future coastal hazards, like beach erosion and seawater inundation.

Planning Portfolio Councillor Christian Dickson said developing a long-term strategy would build awareness of the potential impacts of climate change.

“The community is invited to attend a series of upcoming events to learn more about the strategy and chat to the project team,” Cr Dickson said.

“If you’re interested in our coastline and its future, please come along. Your ideas and feedback will be so valuable when it comes to developing the strategy.

“And, make sure you check out the wave tank. It’s really interesting, and helps us to understand how different landforms or environments affect waves along our coastline.”

If you can’t make it to the community events, look out for the project team at your local foreshore, or have your say on council’s website.
