High Impact Fatal 5 traffic sting, South Australia

As part of Operation High Impact Fatal 5 police conducted a large drink driving operation overnight.

Driver Testing Stations were set up at a number of locations in the metro area with many police involved between 7pm Saturday 30 November until 3.30am this morning, Sunday 1 December.

Police breath tested just over 3,000 motorists with 19 people testing positive to drink driving.

The highest reading was a 47-year-old Prospect woman, who allegedly blew 0.167. This was closely followed by a 35-year-old man from West Beach who allegedly blew 0.151, and a 20-year-old man from Hazelwood Park who allegedly blew 0.127.

There were also 67 Drug tests conducted with eight people testing positive to driving with methamphetamine or cannabis in their system.

There were 28 expiation notices given to motorists, and 25 cars defected.

There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel while drunk or on drugs.

Operation High Impact F5 is targeting the fatal five offences of drink and drug driving, speeding, distraction, seatbelts and dangerous road users.

The operation began at 12:01am Thursday 14 November 2019 and will end at 11:59pm Wednesday 11 December 2019.
