Premier Mark McGowan visited Hillarys Primary School today to announce a major $16.7 million modern rebuild of the school, with construction to start next year.
The project is fully funded by the McGowan Government, and will be included in the Mid-year Review in December.
New facilities will include an administration building with adjacent library and staff facilities, two kindergarten classrooms in an early childhood block, four general learning areas with 16 classrooms, and parking for staff and parents.
The school has two new buildings delivered under the Building the Education Revolution program in 2011, which include three early childhood classrooms and a covered assembly area with an art room and a music room. These buildings will remain on the site.
The redevelopment will replace the current school facilities, which opened in 1973.
Under a re-elected McGowan Labor Government, construction is expected to start late next year and will be staged to minimise the impact on the school during the rebuild.
The project will support 60 jobs and is expected to be completed for the 2023 school year.

“We’re committed to investing in high-quality infrastructure at public schools in Western Australia, and that means ensuring older facilities are upgraded so students can learn in a modern school environment.
“This project will improve facilities for families but also support jobs for local workers.
“It follows our unprecedented $492.2 million investment in schools across the State as part of the WA Recovery Plan, which is supporting WA’s economic recovery and delivering fantastic learning facilities.”
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“The redevelopment will provide modern and inspiring learning environments for staff and students while supporting the steadily increasing enrolments at the school.
“I’m sure parents will be as pleased as I am about this new project for the school community and I look forward to watching it progress.”
