A new online home electric planner being rolled out in Victoria will help households lower their power bills and reduce emissions, said Rewiring Australia.
“This is a fantastic initiative to help Victorians switch from expensive gas to cheaper, cleaner electric appliances,” said Dan Cass, Executive Director of Rewiring Australia.
“Gas and electricity companies deliberately make energy confusing for people – but this planner will empower Victorians to make informed decisions to reduce their bills and emissions.
“By tailoring electrification plans to each household, this tool helps make the transition to clean, affordable energy accessible to everyone.
“Electrification is the cheapest and fastest way to decarbonise. It’s great to see Victoria leading the way nationally with this innovative tool to help households move away from gas towards fully electric homes.”
The pilot initiative, launched today by the SEC in the Cities of Casey and Merri-bek, surveys users about their home and energy usage and then tailors a plan to cut their energy bills through electrification.
It includes suggestions for suitable appliances, including indicative costs, return on investment, government rebates, and emissions reductions.
The pilot will extend to residents of Ballarat next month.
