Homicide Squad detectives launch investigation into fatal Parramatta shooting

Homicide Squad detectives have launched an investigation under Strike Force Juneau into the fatal shooting of a man in Parramatta early this morning.

About 3.30am (Monday 26 August 2024), emergency services were called to Harold Street, Parramatta, following reports of a shooting.

Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command arrived and found a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds outside a unit block.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.

The man has since been identified as 29-year-old Torek Ayoub.

A short time later at about 3.45am, emergency services were called to A’Beckett Street, Granville, following reports of a car fire.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and found a sedan – which had been reported stolen – alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze.

Police have established crime scenes at both locations and detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad have commenced Strike Force Juneau to investigate the shooting.

As investigations continue, detectives are treating both incidents as linked and are appealing for information about two men seen leaving the scene of the arson on A’Beckett Street in a dark coloured SUV.
