Horror historian shares story with Logan library patrons

Catch Brisbane horror historian Jack Sim at Marsden Library on Saturday, August 3.

Tales about Logan’s haunted history will be shared at Marsden Library next week by a self-confessed Brisbane horror historian.

Jack Sim, the managing director of Boggo Road Gaol and operator of Brisbane Ghost Tours, will share some of his favourite ghost stories from the City of Logan and its surrounds.

Jack will be at Marsden Library from 10am to noon next Saturday (August 3).

He share details about the ghost which plagued European explorer Captain Patrick Logan who was the commandant of the penal settlement at Moreton Bay from 1825 to 1830.

Capt. Logan recognised the ghost as a convict who had absconded and had been recaptured.

The convict then died while being flogged on the Captain’s orders exactly one month before at the very spot the ghost was seen.

Ghostly sightings of Capt. Logan were also recorded after his death in 1830.

Known as Brisbane’s infamous “man in black” Jack has scoured Logan, Ipswich, Toowoomba and the Gold Coast over the past 20 years for horrible histories and tales of Brisbane’s most infamous events including stories from inside the former Boggo Road Gaol.

Jack has also published true tales of crime scenes and hosts tours through the Gaol, Toowong Cemetery and South Brisbane Cemetery.

Jack’s talk at Marsden Library will feature local ghost stories intertwined with elements of tragedy, crime, murder, mystery, magic, love and death.
