The Rockliff Liberal Government understands that increasing the supply of social and affordable homes is the best way to address our current housing challenges.
The Australian Government and also every State and Territory agree this is the best strategy.
“It is pleasing to see that the latest CoreLogic market update indicates that Tasmania has the highest rental vacancy of any State and also the lowest rental price growth of any State,” Minister Barnett said
”We know that supply, supply, supply is the answer which is why we are pulling every possible lever to help build more homes faster.
“We are setting ambitious housing targets and in June this year alone we are likely to deliver about 380 new dwelling, which is a number that is usually delivered over an entire year.
“Tasmania is leading the nation with our innovative and agile Homes Tasmania authority and our community housing providers, the construction industry and hard-working tradies are rising to the challenge.
“All Tasmanians deserve safe and secure accommodation, which is why the Rockliff Liberal Government is delivering the biggest social and affordable housing plan in the state’s history – a massive 10-year, $1.5 billion plan to deliver 10,000 homes by 2032,” Minister Barnett said.
