The final hurdle awaits eight teams in their quest to clinch their spots for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Indonesia 2024™ as they gear up for Round 2 of the Qualifiers.
Australia, Korea Republic, Thailand, Bangladesh, Vietnam, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Philippines and India will discover their opponents at the official draw in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia tonight at 5:00 pm AEDT.
The CommBank Junior Matildas advanced to Round 2 of qualifiers after a perfect run in Round 1, beating Mongolia 11-0 and then defeating the Chinese Taipei 3-0 to finish at the top of the group.
The teams will be drawn into two separate groups, with the first two teams advancing to the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Indonesia 2024™, joining Japan, DPR Korea, and China PR – as well as host nation, Indonesia.
The seeding pots are as follows:
Pot 1 (teams ranked 1-2): Australia, Korea Republic
Pot 2 (3-4): Thailand, Bangladesh
Pot 3 (5-6): Vietnam, IR Iran
Pot 4 (7-8): Philippines, India
