Hundreds of cannabis plants located in Carrum Downs

Southern Metro Division 4 Divisional Response Unit detectives executed a warrant in Carrum Downs this morning and located over 400 alleged cannabis plants.

Officers attended the Leah Grove address and discovered the alleged 180kg of drugs about 5.30am.

Forensic officers from the Victoria Police Botany Unit are attending the scene to assess the plants.

No one was inside the premises and the time and no one has been arrested.

“A seizure of this size will hopefully make a significant impact and reduce the amount of illicit drugs reaching the community,” Detective Sergeant Flyn Loughlin said.

“Cannabis can have devastating effects on drug users, their lives and their families lives,”

“We will continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and shut down these types of operations throughout Victoria,” he said.

The investigation remains ongoing and police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
