IAG claims teams on standby for east coast severe weather

IAG, whose brands include NRMA Insurance, CGU and WFI, has its assessing and claims teams ready to support customers who may be impacted by torrential rainfall and storms across eastern Australia.

A low pressure trough is forecast to deepen over the next 24-28 hours and is expected to bring widespread heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible flooding to south-east Queensland and parts of New South Wales east coast.

With further adverse weather predicted over the coming days, IAG Major Events Response Manager Julia Attard said IAG is closely monitoring the weather systems and is well prepared to support customers who may be impacted.

We are ready to help our customers lodge their claims and provide immediate support such as temporary accommodation or emergency support payments, if required.

“We’ve also mobilised our partner builders in the region who are ready to perform critical ‘make safe’ repairs for customers once it is safe to do so.

“And we have extra claims consultants standing by to ensure we can support our customers as quickly as possible. Customers can also lodge their claims online via the NRMA Insurance app, website or the CGU and WFI websites, or you can call your insurer.”

IAG Executive Manager Claims Natalie Major said: “With heavy rainfall forecast over the coming days, we are reminding everyone to make safety the number one priority.

“We encourage everyone to monitor weather alerts, adhere to the advice and directions of the emergency authorities.

“When a storm is approaching, take precautions to secure or remove loose objects in your yard, for example, outdoor furniture. Avoid unnecessary travel during a storm and never drive through floodwaters as the consequences can be tragic.”

We will provide additional updates on the severe weather event and support for our customers and communities.
