ICAC Commissioner endorses joint communique with national integrity leaders

Office of the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption

Commissioner Ken Fleming QC has endorsed a joint communique with the heads of national anti-corruption and integrity agencies to call upon public sector leaders to commit and act against corruption.

The communique’s theme for 2019 is recognising the behaviours which incubate corruption.

Commissioner Fleming’s endorsement marks a unified stance with all integrity leaders to stamp out corruption.

The communique was released this week for the leading anti-corruption event, the Australian Public Sector Anti-Corruption Conference.

Commissioner Fleming attended the conference which focusses on preventing, exposing and responding to corrupt conduct and corruption risks across public institutions.

The learnings from the communique will be essential to any public sector body wanting to address the risks of corruption.

The Office of the ICAC will offer free interactive workshops, Strategic Approaches to Corruption Behaviour to help public sector managers understand behaviours that drive corruption and how to manage the risks.

The workshops will be available in early 2020.

Dates will be announced on the Office of the ICAC’s website in the coming weeks.
