Image of man released after robbery at Central Railway Station, NSW

Police released an image of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries into an attempted robbery at Central Railway Station this morning.

About 12.30am (Sunday 23 June 2019), a 23-year-old woman was walking along the ticket barriers of the Devonshire Street entrance, when she was approached by an unknown man.

The man punched the woman to the left side of her face causing her to fall to the ground.

The man then attempted to steal her phone and wallet.

A station employee came to her aid, when he was also assaulted by the man, who punched the 51-year-old in the head causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness for a few seconds.

The offender then fled the scene.

The man and woman were both treated at St Vincent’s Hospital for injuries. They have since been released.

Inquiries to locate the man continue.

He has been described as Pacific Islander appearance, aged 20-30 years old, large build, wearing a black jacket, white pants, and a red t-shirt with a white motif on it.
