Improved Access to Medicine Prescriptions Across Territory

NT Government

A new medicine management system is now live across the Northern Territory ensuring greater care for patients.

NTScript was jointly funded by the Territory Labor Government and the Federal Government, and it provides real time prescription monitoring (RTPM) information for controlled drugs at the point of care, helping to improve clinical decision making.

Through using NT Script, Clinicians in the NT now have greater access to prescribing records, including up-to-date information about the supply of high risk medicines.

NTScript will assist with the identification of people who may be at risk of harm from medicine use. This will enable clinicians to have informed conversations with patients and help reduce the risk of medication related harm. NTScript will support doctors and pharmacists to confidently care for new patients and may help improve patient access to some medicines.

All states and territories have agreed to move to RTPM and to provide data to the National Data Exchange to facilitate Australia-wide prescription monitoring.

NTScript is available at no cost to health professionals.
