Information sought in relation to dangerous driving in Murchison and Ridgley

A man aged in his 30s has been charged in relation to a dangerous driving incident on the Murchison and Ridgley Highway on Sunday 24 September.

Zeehan Police detected a 2000 green Holden Commodore sedan with registration EO4752 travelling at 119 km/h in a 100km/h zone around 1.50pm.

Upon attempting to intercept the car, police allege the driver evaded police and continued driving in a dangerous manner until the car was immobilised with spikes in Ridgley.

The driver has been detained in custody and will appear later today at the Burnie Magistrates Court, facing charges of:

  • Dangerous Driving x 1
  • Drive a motor vehicle while exceeding prescribed alcohol limit x 1
  • Evade Police (Aggravated circumstances) x1
  • Breach of bail x4
  • Recklessly discharge missile to the danger of another person x 1
  • Drive whilst not the holder of a driver license x 1
  • Possess a controlled plant product x1
  • Possess thing used to administer a controlled drug x 1
  • Use a controlled plant product x 1
  • Use a controlled drug x 1

“We want to thank those motorists who stopped to assist police, and encourage any other motorists travelling on the Murchison and Ridgley Highway at the time who may have witnessed this vehicle to come forward,” Acting Sergeant Jeremy Williams said.
