- Up to $8 million allocated in latest round of the Infrastructure Development Fund across 15 developments
- Allocation to support the construction of up to 800 new homes
- Funding assists with essential infrastructure costs for developments, such as connections to power and water
The Cook Labor Government is continuing to ensure every Western Australian has a home, with support for more projects through the Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF).
Fifteen new apartment developments will share in up to $8 million in the latest round of IDF funding under Stream 1 – Targeted Apartment Rebate.
The funding will support the construction of up to 800 new apartment dwellings in the Town of Cambridge and cities of Belmont, Gosnells, Joondalup, Nedlands, Melville, Rockingham, South Perth, Stirling and Vincent, including social and affordable housing developments in Redcliffe and Stirling.
Since 2021, Stream 1 funding has been allocated to 144 apartment developments, helping to cover the costs of connecting to essential water, wastewater and electricity infrastructure.
The IDF was increased from $80 million to $120 million at the 2026-27 State Budget in partnership with the Commonwealth Government.
More information on funded projects is available on the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage website .
As stated by Treasurer Rita Saffioti:
“The Cook Labor Government continues to invest in strategic, targeted measures to accelerate supply and increase diversity.
“Through Stream 1, we’re reducing the upfront cost of connecting developments to essential services, helping unlock more medium and high-density housing in the right locations.
“This is about getting more homes built faster, supporting infill where it makes sense, and making better use of existing infrastructure across our suburbs.”
As stated by Planning and Lands Minister John Carey:
“Our government is focused on driving more infill and density in existing suburbs and the IDF helps developments get off the ground by assisting with the costs of headworks.
“This latest allocation will provide up to $8 million to 15 projects to support industry to deliver 800 new apartments across Perth.”
