Inquiries continue into police pursuit in state’s Alpine region, far south coast, NSW

Police inquiries are continuing following multiple pursuits within the state’s Alpine and Far South Coast regions yesterday.

Shortly after 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 24 July 2019), a white Toyota Hilux utility was stolen from Jindabyne, and seen being driven away with a Ford Courier utility.

About 11.50am police attempted to stop the two vehicles for a random breath test on Kosciuszko Road, Berridale; however, police will allege one ute accelerated and swerved towards an officer, forcing him to jump off the roadway.

The two vehicles continued traveling north towards Cooma and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit was terminated shortly after for safety reasons.

Police continued to monitor the utes’ progress through Bombala, before the stolen Hilux was found burnt out on Imlay Road, Rockton, at the Coopers Rest Area about 1.50pm. A number of items have been seized for forensic examination.

About 2.30pm, the Ford Courier ute was sighted on the Princes Highway at Eden. Police continued to monitor the progress from Bega to Cobargo, where it was last sighted travelling north along the Princes Highway near the Bermagui turn off.

Police inquiries are continuing.
