The MRFF supports Australian health and medical research to improve lives, build the economy and contribute to health system sustainability. The MRFF is priority-driven, filling gaps in areas that need more research. It also focuses on moving ideas from labs and trials to actual health outcomes and final commercial products.
Between 2017 and 2023, 17,730 Chief Investigators applied for MRFF funding through 5,969 applications to 137 competitive grant opportunities.
The MRFF Report on Chief Investigator data provides information on:
- the characteristics of these researchers
- how the MRFF and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) complement each other in terms of the diversity of researchers and research they fund. The NHMRC supports investigator-led research.
