Ballajura Community College upgrades are in the limelight today as Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery and local MLA Rita Saffioti officially opened the new and improved performing arts centre.
The upgrades include a brand new theatre with 256 retractable seats, allowing students to perform in a high quality setting and to much larger audiences.
A music ensemble room, a dedicated room for audio visual equipment, and a welcoming entry foyer are also new additions, providing a modern facility with accompanying technology to advance students’ learning experiences.
The college’s existing performing arts centre also received refurbishments to complete the upgrade.
Student performers in the choir, dance troupes, concert bands and ensembles will have many opportunities to perform in the new theatre.
The upgrades will not only benefit Ballajura Community College, but also other local primary schools and community groups in the Swan area.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“A modern performing arts centre provides new opportunities for students to develop their skills and for the college to stage impressive events on campus.
“I hear there are some exciting performances coming up, so I look forward to hearing how students enjoy the new facilities.”

“At the election we made a commitment to build a theatre for the performing arts centre at Ballajura Community College. I am proud to announce that another WA Labor promise has been delivered.
“The new performing arts theatre will not only be a great asset for Ballajura Community College, but also for the wider Ballajura Community.
“Local primary schools in the area will also benefit from the addition of a theatre at the local high school.”
