Today marks the beginning of Homelessness Week 2023, from Monday 7 to Sunday 13 August. This year’s national theme is ‘it’s time to end homelessness’and we couldn’t agree more.

Did you know that there are currently an estimated 1,000 people across the Peninsula who are homeless?

We have the fourth highest number of people rough sleeping in Victoria. Everyone deserves to feel safe, which is why we are calling for urgent investment from the State and Federal Government into social and affordable housing on the Mornington Peninsula.

This is a deeply important topic for the entire Mornington Peninsula and you can see more on how we’re advocating this issue via our website:mornpen.vic.gov.au/homelessness

We have provided funding to the three Community Support Centre’s since 2001. This funding has significantly increased over the years, as a result of a lack of support from other levels of government.

As part of Homelessness Week 2023, there are many ways you can get involved or find the support you might need. This Friday 11 August, we are walking with Fusion and our three Community Support Centre’sto advocate for solutions for homelessness. Join from 4pm, starting at the Rosebud Pier and finishing at the Rosebud Village Green.
