The popular Italian Festival is back! Darwin Waterfront’s Fort Hill Parklands will turn red, white and green as it is transformed into Little Italy for the fifth Darwin Italian Festival.

After a four year break due to COVID, the much-anticipated festival will return on Saturday 13 May from 12pm until late with more pizza and pasta than ever before.

Italian Festival Association Chair, Ross Finocchiaro said the festival is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate Italian culture, heritage and traditions within the local community.

“Over 20 000 people attended the 2019 festival which is amazing to see. It’s great to know people in the Darwin community enjoy celebrating Italian culture as much as we do,” Ross said.

“While the festival is about celebrating Italian culture, we love living in Darwin and want to showcase the beauty of the Top End.

“Moving the festival to the Darwin Waterfront’s Fort Hill Parklands this year means we can continue to pay tribute to our heritage while showcasing the vibrant and beautiful place in which we live.”

The Darwin Waterfront will be bursting with delicious traditional Italian food, drink, music, art, culture and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

This year’s event will include all the things Darwin has come to know and love about the festival with more announcements on food stalls, entertainers, competitions and prizes to be made in the coming weeks.
