JACET Charges in Darwin 8 August

Northern Territory Police have charged a 24-year-old man with child exploitation offences in Darwin.

On Friday 4 August 2023, The Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) executed a search warrant at the man’s Jingili residence, seizing a number of mobile devices.

It is alleged the man was engaging in indecent conversations with children under the age of 16.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Procure child under 16 for sexual activity x 2
  • Possess child abuse material obtained via carriage service
  • Access child abuse material via carriage service
  • Transmit indecent communication to child under 16

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

The Northern Territory JACET team continue to investigate these incidents and further charges are expected.

Police urge parents to consider their children’s online safety by reviewing their children’s online activity and the social media platforms that they use.
