JCU’s 5 stars for success

James Cook University has received top marks for graduate employment, with Australia’s authoritative tertiary education guide awarding JCU a five-star rating for the 13th year in a row.

The latest edition of The Good Universities Guide has rated JCU 5 out of 5 stars for undergraduate and postgraduate full-time employment.

JCU is the only Queensland university to receive a five-star rating for undergraduate employment for the past 13 consecutive years.

Building on last year’s success, the university has again been awarded five stars for graduates’ starting salaries – both undergraduate and postgraduate – making it number one in Queensland and within the top five of universities nationally.

The Guide also awarded JCU five stars for:

  • Social equity (the proportion of students in a university’s entire cohort of domestic students who are from a low socio-economic or disadvantaged backgrounds) and;
  • Student teacher ratio, placing it within the top five of universities nationally.

JCU Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Biggs said the latest results were reflective of the university’s enduring commitment to providing students from all backgrounds with a high-quality education and strong career prospects.

“JCU continues to set the standard when it comes to giving our graduates the ability to follow their dreams and achieve long-term success in the workforce,” he said.

“In addition, JCU’s excellent student-teacher ratio has clearly been reflected in these latest ratings from the Good Universities Guide, which only enhance the overall learning experience for students.

“We continue to create exceptional opportunities for our students, while inspiring them to become the leaders of tomorrow in their chosen field.”
