Jetstar set to boost international flights out of Melbourne

Wednesday, 13 December 2023: Jetstar is set to boost international capacity from Melbourne in 2024 – ramping up the frequency of flights to Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Auckland and Christchurch, adding a total of more than 100 thousand new low fares seats.

Starting from 1 April 2024 in peak periods, Jetstar will increase services to New Zealand using its Airbus A320 fleet which will see the airline fly:

  • Melbourne to Auckland: up to 13 return flights per week (currently up to 8 per week)
  • Melbourne to Christchurch: up to five return flights per week (currently up to 3 per week)

From 17 June 2024 at peak times, the airline will fly its Boeing 787-8 aircraft more often to major Southeast Asian cities including:

  • Melbourne to Singapore: up to daily return flights (currently up to 6 per week)
  • Melbourne to Bangkok: up to five return flights per week (currently up to 3 per week)
  • Melbourne to Phuket: up to five return flights per week (currently up to 3 per week)

All the additional flights are on sale now at jetstar.com.

Today’s announcement comes just days before Jetstar launches new direct flights between Melbourne and Nadi (Fiji) from Saturday, 16 December 2023. The three days per week service will carry up to 72,000 customers a year.

The low-cost airline’s additional Victorian capacity will support continued strong demand for international travel.

This year Jetstar returned to 100 percent of pre-COVID capacity across its domestic and international routes to and from Melbourne.

Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tully, said Jetstar has seen particularly strong demand for international travel out of Melbourne.

“Melburnians love to travel and we’re continuing to see strong demand.

“The city is also incredibly popular with international tourists as a cultural capital for sport, art, food and world-renowned coffee.

“Over 100 thousand new low fares seats will give customers more choice of where and when to fly, allowing them to take off more on international adventures.”
