Monday, 19 June 2023: Following the signing of a new landmark partnership with Brisbane Airport, today Jetstar will launch an additional half a million low fares seats between Brisbane and international destinations, bringing thousands of tourists into southeast Queensland each year.
Jetstar will begin operating direct flights between Brisbane and Tokyo (Narita), Brisbane and Osaka and Brisbane and Seoul as a result of the new deal which provides airport services that compliment Jetstar’s low-cost operating model.
The low-cost carrier is also adding more frequency to its existing services from Brisbane to Bali and Brisbane to Auckland.
Japan
- From 31 October 2023, five return flights a week between Brisbane and Tokyo (Narita), increasing to a daily service from 3 December 2023.
- From 2 February 2024, four return services a week between Brisbane and Osaka (Kansai).
- More than 380,000 seats each year between Brisbane and the two Japanese destinations.
South Korea
- From 1 February 2024*, three return flights a week between Brisbane and Seoul (Incheon).
- More than 100, 000 seats between Brisbane and the South Korean capital each year.
Bali
- From 1 February 2024, Brisbane to Bali (Denpasar) will increase from seven to 10 return services a week.
- Increased frequency has been made possible by the introduction to the route of Jetstar’s newest, quieter and more fuel-efficient aircraft, the Airbus A321neo LR (NEO).
New Zealand
- From 29 October 2023, four return services per week between Brisbane and Auckland increases to daily, adding over 90,000 seats a year.
- From 1 February 2024, the NEO will also start flying on the route.
The services between Brisbane and Osaka, Brisbane and Seoul and Brisbane and Auckland are supported by Queensland’s Attracting Aviation Investment Fund (AAIF), a joint Government and airport initiative to stimulate the state’s visitor economy.
To facilitate the new flight from Brisbane to Tokyo (Narita), Jetstar will stop flying from the Gold Coast to Tokyo (Narita) from 29 October 2023. The change strengthens Jetstar’s operations by consolidating widebody aircraft flying and related engineering resources in Brisbane.
Jetstar Group CEO, Stephanie Tully, said the new Brisbane Airport deal will bring thousands of new visitors to Queensland each year, invigorating the local economy.
“The new partnership with Brisbane Airport has unlocked about half a million new seats between Brisbane and some of the most popular international destinations on our network,” Ms Tully said.
“Jetstar has a strong track record of stimulating travel through great value fares and this major boost to international flying for Queensland will bring thousands more tourists into the sunshine state from Japan, South Korea and across the Tasman.
“These new services also mean Queenslanders can take off more often to more destinations with our everyday low fares.
“We thank Brisbane Airport and the Queensland Government for their support of the Osaka, Seoul and Auckland services through the Attracting Aviation Investment Fund which is accelerating the return of overseas tourists.”
Brisbane Airport CEO, Gert-Jan de Graaff, hailed the expansion of services.
“This is the biggest injection of low fare seats for Queenslanders, and visitors from our most popular markets, that we have ever seen,” Mr de Graaff said.
“We look forward to welcoming more travellers from New Zealand, Japan and Seoul enabling them to get out and explore our region and State.
“We are also excited to see Jetstar deploying the new quieter and fuel-efficient Airbus A321neo on these new BNE flights.
“Brisbane Airport is committed to reducing the noise impact for our nearby communities and we know that next generation aircraft are an important part of this solution.”

Jetstar’s NEOs
The A321neo LR offers the best inflight experience of any low-cost carrier as its:
· 50 per cent quieter than similar size Airbus A320/A321s
· burns up to 20 per cent less fuel to reduce emissions
· has an extra fuel tank to fly further (about 3,500 nautical miles / 6,482 kilometres)
· 232 wider seats, each with USB power
· extra-large overhead storage bins with 40 per cent more space
· coloured LED lighting to provide better comfort.
Jetstar’s A321neo LR (NEO) fleet is continuing to grow, with the eighth NEO due to touch down this week from the Airbus factory in Germany. In total, the aircraft manufacturer is set to deliver 18 NEOs by the end of 2024.
