JobTrainer to get more Tasmanians work-ready

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Education and Training

Applications will open this weekend for the $21 million JobTrainer Fund which provides fee-free, nationally-recognised training in sectors with an identified need for more skilled workers and represents up to 7000 additional placements for Tasmanians.

The Fund is a joint initiative of the Tasmanian and Australian Governments and will make a big difference for Tasmanian industries and displaced workers affected by COVID-19.

Importantly, the free training and qualifications will be available to school leavers, young Tasmanians and other job seekers, especially those out of work due to the impact of COVID-19.

RTOs can apply for funding to deliver a range of industry-relevant qualifications to equip job seekers and our future workforce to step into roles that will help our economy and long-term pandemic recovery.

Shorter duration courses will also be available to help those needing upskilling or to update their knowledge, as well as to get people into immediate-need jobs much faster.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to ensuring we have the skilled workforce we need to support our economy as we recover and rebuild from the impacts of COVID-19.

We will continue to work in partnership with the Federal Government to deliver initiatives like this which support Tasmanians.

The JobTrainer Fund represents a substantial investment in our state’s training system and continues our commitment to ensuring that Tasmania’s VET system delivers quality training for learners that is responsive to industry needs.

The JobTrainer Fund will open for applications from Endorsed Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) on Saturday, 17 October and close Tuesday 17 November
