Join WA Police Force to keep our community safe and strong

  • Major WA Police recruitment campaign launched
  • Follows the $314 million State Budget commitment to recruit 800 additional police
  • On top of the 300 extra officers already being delivered by the McGowan Government
  • Strong budget management delivers more frontline police on the beat
  • The McGowan Government has today launched a new recruitment campaign as the Western Australian Police Force embarks on the single biggest recruitment drive in the State’s history.

The new campaign – ‘Let’s Join Forces’ has been developed to help attract hundreds of new police officers over the next four years, which was included in the 2020-21 State Budget.

Over the course of the first term of the McGowan Government, 1,100 additional police officers have been fully funded, the biggest single injection in police numbers in decades.

‘Let’s Join Forces’ showcases the diversity of the WA Police Force, along with the many and varied roles to which Police may be called.

To ensure policing was captured in all its forms and functions, film crews worked at various locations across metropolitan, regional and remote WA.

The recruitment campaign, which has cost $1.8 million, will run across multiple platforms including TV, radio, digital venue advertising, out of home and print.

The Joondalup Police Academy will be busier than ever before and extra training resources have been funded to ensure it can operate at full capacity.

The McGowan Government’s strong budget management has enabled a record investment in community safety, with more than $755 million added to the WA Police Force’s budget since the Liberals were in government.

As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

“Our WA Police Force do a remarkable job, and my Government is committed to giving them the support and resources they deserve to help keep our community safe.

“A career in the Police is not just some ordinary job.

“I know from my own time in the Navy that you create bonds of friendship and camaraderie that can sustain you through the good times and the bad.

“It’s a pretty special thing to serve the community in this way and I encourage everyone who can, to put their hands up for a rewarding career.

“WA Police stepped up and continue to perform the critical role on our borders and protecting our community during the pandemic.

“Through our strong budget management, we’ve been able to put more police on the streets and boost frontline operations.”

As stated by Police Minister Michelle Roberts:

“Our community needs and deserves the best resourced and trained Police Force it can have.

“It’s brilliant that our Government is delivering this.

“Not only have we delivered extra police, but we’ve also been able to provide them with the best kit money can buy.

‘Our police are now equipped with personal issue protective vests, mobile devices, body cameras and vehicles that have all the tech you could wish for.

“I hope that this exciting, new campaign will attract the best and brightest of our people from across the community.”
