Kempsey joins the Blue Tree Project for mental health awareness

Kempsey Shire Council

Sunday 10 September is World Suicide Prevention Day and Kempsey has an important conversation starter in Rudder Park with a new mural created to raise awareness about mental health.

This Blue Tree Project, led by Baylin’s Gift and Kempsey Community Suicide Prevention, is part of a local campaign to raise awareness about mental health. It’s the first of its kind in Kempsey, but you’ll find similar blue trees all around Australia. These blue trees are like symbols of hope and remind us to talk openly about mental health.

Another key feature of the mural is that it’s interactive. The community can add their own messages of hope and remembrance, making Rudder Park a place for reflection and support.

This is just one part of an ongoing campaign in our community to make mental health conversations normal and encourage people to seek help when they need it. Kempsey Community Suicide Prevention and others are working hard to make this happen.

With the Blue Tree in Rudder Park, we now have a visible reminder to come together, talk about mental health, and support one another.
