Qatar Airways will resume flights to Adelaide today – the second major international connection to be restored.

Qatar will touch down in Adeliade this afternoon, resuming daily services from Doha and Emirates, which resumed services from Dubai last month, will return to daily services next week.

The resumption returns two major international connections into Adelaide which had not been operating since February.

Qatar services from Doha will operate daily, with the airline also operating connections from Auckland.

The resumption of services via the Middle East, adds to the multitude of connections for passengers heading to Adelaide from Europe, including Singapore Airlines via Singapore, Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur and Cathay Pacific’s seasonal service via Hong Kong.

Emirates has been operating three times a week since early May and will return to daily flights from June 23.

Despite the temporary pause of flights via the Middle East, Adelaide Airport continues to record strong figures for inbound passengers.

April this year was the airport’s busiest month on record; 791,000 people passed through the terminal, 96,509 of them being international passengers.

In the year to April, over 1.2 million international passengers passed through Adelaide Airport, a number bolstered by new seasonal services including the inaugural connection from San Francisco with United Airlines.

Passengers with existing bookings for Qatar or Emirates are urged to contact their airline to check for updated flight information.

The return of Qatar and Emirates connections to Adelaide provides options for people visiting our state.

South Australia is more globally connected than ever before, and we are a safe and secure destination ready to welcome visitors from around the world.

That’s reflected by the increase in incoming passengers, and the more than one million international visitors who have passed through Adelaide Airport over the last year.
