A kids’ vaccination blitz will start this week with thousands more appointments available to get children first dose vaccinated before the start of the school year to protect our youngest Western Australians against COVID-19.
From Saturday January 22 to Sunday January 30, an additional 4,700 COVID-19 vaccination appointments will be available to be booked at State-run clinics for children aged five to 11. This takes the total available kids’ appointments during this time to more than 11,400.
An additional 8,000 kids’ vaccination appointments have already been booked for this period.
A dedicated paediatric vaccination clinic will also open at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) and increased children’s vaccinations will be available at Kwinana and Ellenbrook vaccination clinics. All other appointments booked at the PCEC clinic will continue as scheduled.
All other State-run clinics in the metropolitan area and regions will continue to offer children vaccinations as they do now.
Parents are also able to book their children into an appointment at GPs and pharmacies across the State.
People are encouraged to visit rollupforwa.com.au to find their nearest vaccination clinic and visit VaccinateWA to secure their child’s appointment at a State-run clinic – bookings are essential.
As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:
“I urge all parents to take advantage of our kids’ vaccination blitz to help protect our children against COVID-19.
“Since Monday last week, when children aged five to 11 became eligible, thousands of parents have booked their children in for their first dose and demand for appointments continues to grow.
“Getting your child vaccinated now is an important step to help keep them safe when schools return for the 2022 year.
“Western Australians have done a great job so far, but there is still more work to be done to get more people vaccinated and more third doses administered before we can safely transition.”
As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
“I urge parents with children aged five to 11 to get them vaccinated against COVID-19 to avoid serious illness from the Omicron variant.
“I encourage parents to book these additional spots at our State-run vaccination clinics. The vaccine is the safest and most effective way to protect your child.
“GPs, pharmacies, Aboriginal Medical Services and GP respiratory clinics are also available for child vaccination appointments, so parents are urged to book at these clinics as well.”
