Labor Chooses Green Votes Over Tasmanian Jobs

Tasmanian Government

Tasmanians are sick and tired of their families and their businesses being used like a political football by the Labor Party.

Deputy Premier and Treasurer, Guy Barnett, said Labor is weaponising Tasmania’s productive industries to appease inner-city Green voters on the mainland.

“The Tasmanian Liberal Government is the strongest supporter of our productive industries, our regional communities and the businesses that help keep them vibrant,” Deputy Premier Barnett said.

“Labor continues to show blatant disregard for Tasmanians by delaying critical decisions on salmon, mining and energy projects.

“When productive industries are held back, it’s everyday Tasmanians who pay the price. It’s the local baker who loses customers. It’s the small contractor who misses out on work. It’s the school that struggles as families move away.

“It is clear Labor is out of touch with Tasmanians, out of touch with regional communities and out of touch with workers.

“The Tasmanian Liberal Government will not stand by and let our industries be weaponised by Labor. Enough is enough.

“Robbins Island has all the local and state approvals required, it is now stuck in limbo because of Labor’s disgraceful decision to put politics ahead of regional Tasmanians.

“It is clear Labor is at war with itself as it tries to impress Green voters, but Tasmanians see straight through this gutless political game playing.”
