The contrast is clear – the Rockliff Liberal Government backs a strong Tasmanian economy, while Labor talks Tasmania down and champions a recession.
Treasurer, Michael Ferguson said Premier Jeremy Rockliff sent a clear message about our priorities: backing business, jobs and economic growth so we can invest in doing what matters most to Tasmanians.
“Today, CommSec confirmed our long-term plan for Tasmania is working and our economy is again leading the pack for 12 of the past 14 quarters,” Mr Ferguson said.
“You’d think that’s worth celebrating. But, not if you’re Labor.
“Labor’s wannabe leader Dean Winter has criticised Tasmania, our economy, and scare mongered about being “on the verge of a recession.”
“Tasmanians are getting tired of how Mr Winter finds a way to say something negative or talk down Tasmania every day.
“This is a nasty swipe at the achievements of hardworking Tasmanians who are the reason our economy is strong.
“It is this exact void of leadership that led to Labor-Green Government plunging Tasmania into recession.
“Tasmanians deserve more than an opposition that champions economic failure.
“They deserve a Government that backs business and consumer confidence.
“Our Government recognises Tasmanian businesses need confidence, Tasmanians need certainty and that’s what our Government is delivering.”
