The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) would like your opinion of the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA).
Call for public submissions
DFAT is undertaking a General Review of the implementation and operation of JAEPA. The Department is calling for public submissions.
The General Review is an opportunity to:
- upgrade and modernise the agreement to support an enhanced bilateral economic partnership
- identify trade and investment policy opportunities
- review FTA activities
- consider emerging developments in global trade policy.
DFAT has started preliminary discussions with Japan and consultations with key stakeholders. The Department also welcomes written submissions from interested parties.

The closing date for submissions has been extended to 31 August 2021.
