The risk to the Western Australian community remains low despite the confirmation today of Australia’s first case of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Victoria (external site).

There are no confirmed cases in Western Australia to date.

The Western Australian health system is very well prepared to manage infectious disease situations and have well established systems and processes in place.

Anyone who arrives in Western Australia having recently travelled from Hubei Province in China, with respiratory symptoms should alert a biosecurity officer at the airport. If they start experiencing these symptoms up to 14 days after leaving Hubei Province they should seek medical attention.
