Mornington Peninsula Shire has welcomed the State Government’s easing of Coronavirus restrictions – Step 3, allowing libraries to increase the number of customers.

Mayor, Councillor Sam Hearn said, “I am pleased to announce that our libraries at Mornington, Rosebud, Somerville and Hastings will be open to the public from Monday 22 June. This is great news for our community who can once again view, browse and borrow collection items and use the computers”.

Libraries will continue to operate with shorter opening hours until 4 July when hours return to normal. All public programs, including Storytime, will continue online for the time being.

Limits apply to visitor numbers and time spent at each library. Extra safety measures will be in place with a concierge at the door to track numbers and record visitors’ details. Hand sanitiser will be available and extra cleaning of all high touch surfaces, computers and self-serve checkouts will be implemented.

The Mobile Library will not resume operations yet due to physical distancing requirements still in place. The Outreach Vehicle library service will continue to operate Thursdays and Fridays.
