Licensed premises receives fine for COVID breach, South Australia

Today investigators from the COVID Compliance team today issued a $5060 fine to a licensed premises on Hindley Street for a breach of the Public Activities Direction.

An investigation commenced following a complaint from a member of the public.

Footage obtained shows the venue operating as a nightclub in contravention of the State Coordinator’s Direction. The investigation revealed, that dancing along with consumption of alcohol and loud amplified music was occurring. Under the current directions, this is prohibited

SAPOL COVID Compliance have referred the breach of COVID-19 Directions to the Liquor & Gambling Commissioner to consider whether disciplinary action against the licensee is warranted.

COVID Compliance teams will be out in force this weekend and will be taking positive action, including fine or court action with the potential a licensed premises will be forced to close.

Any breaches identified of COVID-19 directions relating to the liquor industry will be referred to the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner to consider whether disciplinary action against the licensee is warranted
