Artist Dr Nicola Hooper will share the inspiration behind her Factory Stories exhibition at the Living Museum of Logan Community Day.

The unique stories behind the exhibitions in the Living Museum of Logan are set to be revealed by a special group of people – the artists themselves.

The artists will be part of a Community Day on Saturday, August 20 at the museum, which opened last month in the Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct

City Lifestyle Chair Councillor Laurie Koranski said the event would celebrate the museum’s opening and showcase what it offers.

“This is a special place where stories from our diverse community can be experienced through the eyes of those who have made the City of Logan what it is today,” Cr Koranski said.

“I encourage everyone to take a look at the museum for themselves and meet the artists whose works are featured.”

The Community Day program starts at11.30am with a talk by artist and educator Sylvia Nakachi about her artworks in the First Nations Space.

Artists Chrys Zantis, Sam Tupou and Dr Nicola Hooper will give talks throughout the day.

A discussion with emerging artists and participants from the Snapshot! Exhibition, which captures the street styles of the City of Logan, will be led by photographer Louis Lim.

The day also includes music by Dave Loveland whose portrait features in Snapshot!

Sally Terare will talk about her public art design Wander free displayed in the KBF Plaza.

The program will conclude with a 4pm talk by Lincoln Austin about his public art design Milky Way which features on KBF’s outdoor stage.
