Loaded firearm found on roof after pursuit; man charged, NSW

A man will face court charged after police found a loaded firearm on the roof of a home following a pursuit in Sydney’s north west overnight.

Just after midnight (Wednesday 30 September 2020), officers from Quakers Hill Police Area Command attempted to stop a white Audi sedan on Perfection Avenue, Stanhope Gardens.

It’s alleged it failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

With assistance from PolAir, the vehicle was located outside a home on Thornbury Circuit.

Police attended and arrested a 28-year-old man.

Following information received, officers searched an adjoining home and found a loaded shotgun on the roof, which has been seized for forensic examination.

The Stanhope Gardens man was taken to Riverstone Police Station and charged with drive while licence cancelled, police pursuit- not stop- drive recklessly, acquire firearm- subject to prohibition order, and possess unauthorised prohibited firearm.

He has been refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court later today.
