The Visitor Economy Business Training and Mentoring Program will support tourism operators, hospitality venues and experience-based businesses to improve customer experience and develop new bookable experiences that attract visitors to Penrith.
The program, “Destination Penrith: Experience more – ready to welcome the world”, will be delivered in partnership with Tourism Tribe and rolled out in two phases, combining practical workshops with targeted mentoring support.
The first phase includes in-person workshops focused on customer service and the visitor journey, helping businesses identify opportunities to enhance the experience before, during and after a visitor’s stay.
In the second phase, up to five businesses will be selected through an Expression of Interest process to receive one-on-one mentoring to develop new, market-ready visitor experiences.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the program is part of Council’s broader work to support local businesses and position Penrith as a compelling destination.
“This program will help local businesses build on what they already offer and create high-quality experiences that encourage visitors to stay longer and explore more of Penrith,” Cr Carney said.
“By strengthening our local tourism offering, we’re supporting local jobs, growing our economy and preparing for new opportunities as Western Sydney International Airport prepares to open.”
Workshops will be held on Monday, 15 June at the Western Sydney Airport Experience Centre and include a guided tour exploring the airport precinct and future visitor journey.
Workshop 1 – 9:00 am to 12:30pm
Workshop 2 – 10:15 am to 1:45pm
Local businesses are encouraged to register and take advantage of this opportunity.
