Bayside City Council welcomes the Victorian Government’s announcement of an upgrade of the Bluff Road housing estate.
Mayor Councillor Alex del Porto said Council has long advocated for improvements to public housing in Bayside.
“We hope the Victorian Government will consult with Council and the community on its plans for the Bluff Road estate,” Cr del Porto said.
It is hoped that early consultation with Council will result in positive outcomes expected by Council and the community in association with the Bluff Road Estate. Council is supportive of the redevelopment of public housing sites to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet the demands of the community and will continue to advocate for positive outcomes.
Residents of the estate on Bluff Rd will have to relocate when demolition is due to begin in 2023.
Council will assist residents during the relocation process where possible.
