The nationally renowned shake & stir theatre co return to Mildura Arts Centre (MAC) this month with their latest classic fiction adaption, Roald Dahl’s The Twits.

Described as a “visually spectacular, delightfully-disgusting, revoltingly funny” production suitable for ages five and up, The Twits will transport audiences into the wonderful world of Dahl’s literary classic on Wednesday, 31 May at 6.30pm.

Councillor for Arts, Culture and Heritage Helen Healy said the performance would be an opportunity for local families to enjoy a great night out entertained by one of the largest privately-owned and operated theatre companies in Australia.

“It’s great to see shake & stir theatre co back at Mildura Arts Centre this month, once again showcasing the Centre’s ability to attract some of the best theatre companies and performances in the country,” Cr Healy said.

“As we’ve seen in previous visits to our region, shake & stir’s innovative stage adaptations of classics many of us are already familiar with really connect and intrigue audiences.

“We’ve seen this in our local school community as well, with a special schools performance earlier in the day already sold out.

“There’s that sense of ‘where will they take us this time’, which really builds the anticipation leading up to each show.

“And for those who may be unfamiliar with the original classics, the sheer talent and professionalism of the performers and crew behind each show mean each performance is highly entertaining in its own right.”

The Twits has attracted critical acclaim across the country.

“Perfect. You and your child do not want to miss this remarkable piece of theatre.”

– Broadway World

“Honed to perfection. The team behind this production are absolute stunners.”

– Stage Whispers

“A full-bodied visual and aural experience…should not be missed.”

– Arts Hub

The Twits tells the story of Mr and Mrs Twit who are on a quest to be meaner than each other until someone else outwits them, ultimately telling a tale that proves if we treat others with love and care, and that if you have good thoughts, it will shine through.
