A major upgrade of Bayshore Drive in the Byron Bay Arts and Industry (A&I) Estate has started.

The upgrade will be done along a 390-metre stretch of the road from the roundabout at the intersection of Centennial Circuit and Grevillia Street to the second intersection of Centennial Circuit near the IGA.

The project received funding from the NSW Government.

The work includes:

  • Renewing the existing road
  • Angle and parallel parking
  • Stormwater infrastructure
  • New bus stop.

There are also plans for a future footpath, shared path and crossing points but these are currently unfunded and will be built when money is available.

Bayshore Drive is a busy road and there will be disruptions for drivers, pedestrians and people who live and work in the A&I Estate.

“There is no doubt that there will be some inconvenience and we apologise for this but any work on this busy road is difficult,” James Flockton, Infrastructure Planning Coordinator, said.

“Information has been delivered to businesses and residents in the area, and we are asking them to sign up to receive a regular E Newsletter that will have the latest information about the project,” he said.

Information on the Bayshore Drive upgrade and how to subscribe to the newsletter, is on Council’s website.
