Makeover continues for Col Brown Rotary Park

Col Brown Rotary Park

Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce it was successful in obtaining an $847,701 grant under the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program to complete Stages 2 and 3 of the Col Brown Rotary Park upgrade.

Stage 1 of the upgrade is now complete which has seen a transformation of the park with new pathways, more trees and landscaping, new furniture, additional lighting, and a sandstone amphitheatre.

Stage 2 and 3 are set to kick off later this month which will build on these improvements with landscaping at the eastern and western ends of the park, increased seating, improvements to the amenities block, feature tree plantings, accessible pathways, and park lighting.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal said this is a fantastic project and he is happy to see this element of Kurri Kurri CBD Masterplan come to life.

“The aim of these works is to make the park more accessible and user friendly for the community to enjoy, while maintaining its heritage and charm,” Councillor Suvaal said.

“Col Brown Rotary Park plays host to so many wonderful community events and this upgrade is going to ensure we’re making the most of this great space in the centre of Kurri Kurri.”

This project is made possible thanks to the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program.
