A man has been arrested after home-made firearms were found at Aldinga Beach.
Police will allege that about 10.30am on Thursday 23 November, officers from SAPOL’s Serious Firearm Crime Investigation Section went to a house after receiving information from Australian Border Force that illicit firearms were being manufactured at the property.
Police searched the premises and located two firearms and machinery used to manufacture the firearms.
Police seized 12 cannabis plants and a large amount of ammunition from the property along with a large industrial lathe.
A 72-year-old Aldinga Beach man was charged with numerous offences including manufacture firearm without a licence, possess firearm without a licence, possess ammunition without a licence and cultivate cannabis.
He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 2 January 2024.
Detective Superintendent Lauren Leverington, officer in charge of Firearms Branch says, “This is an important seizure because privately made firearms are dangerous, untraceable and their existence in the community can pose a threat to public safety.
