Man arrested and firearms seized in Horsham

Officers from the Critical Incident Response Team arrested a man in Horsham yesterday as part of a Horsham ongoing investigation.

The 28-year-old man was arrested in Roberts Avenue on Monday 11 September about 2pm.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at a motel in Stawell Road where a loaded shotgun and alleged pen pistol was seized.

A quantity of prescription medication, methylamphetamine and an item believed to be a steroid was also found.

The Horsham man, who is subject to a firearm prohibition order, has been charged with:

• prohibited person possess firearm

• possess firearm when a firearm prohibition order applies

• unlicensed person fail to store firearm correctly

• possess methylamphetamine

• possess steroids

• resist arrest

• contravene bail conditions and,

• commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

Enquiries have revealed the firearm is alleged to have been stolen during an aggravated burglary in Horsham in December 2017.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Horsham Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 12 September.
