Man arrested as police investigate shooting in Merrylands

A man has been arrested and a crime scene has been established as police investigate a public place shooting in Sydney’s west this week.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command were notified after shots were fired on William Street, Merrylands on Monday 27 September 2021.

As part of inquiries, just after 7pm yesterday (Tuesday 28 September 2021) police attended the William Street address and spoke to a man before he allegedly ran from the scene.

A short time later, the man returned and was arrested by police.

The 23-year-old was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with breaching bail conditions.

He is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 29 September 2021).

Investigations are continuing into the public place shooting.
