Man charged; drugs and firearms seized at Armidale, NSW

A man has been charged following a number of search warrants in the state’s Northern Tablelands yesterday.

About 11.20am (Thursday 19 March 2020), officers from Armidale Target Action Group with Criminal Investigation and Crime Management Unit, executed two search warrants in Purkiss Street, Armidale.

Police later stopped a 51-year-old man in a 4WD a short distance away. During a search of the man’s vehicle, police allegedly found cannabis.

Police arrested the man and he was taken to Armidale Police Station.

Police then conducted a further search want at the 51-year-old man’s house in Dumaresq Street, Uralla.

During the search of that property, police allegedly seized more cannabis, a shortened shotgun along with 25 rounds of ammunition, four gel pellet guns and cash.

The man was charged with a eight offences, including supplying a prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug (two counts), dealing with the proceeds of crime and possessing a prohibited firearm (four counts).

The man was granted conditional bail and will appear at Armidale Local Court on Monday 4 May 2020.
