Man charged following assault of man at Kellyville – SF Sestao

A man has been charged following an investigation into the serious assault of man in Sydney’s west yesterday.

Just after 8pm (Tuesday, 5 November), emergency services were called to a licenced premises on Merriville Road, Kellyville Ridge, following reports of an assault.

On arrival, officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command were told a man had allegedly punched a 55-year-old man, leaving the scene prior to police attending.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was taken to Westmead Hospital with critical injuries.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Detectives from Riverstone Police Area Command established Strike Force Sestao to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault, assisted by NWMR Detectives and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Following inquiries, a 43-year-old man was arrested about 8:30am today (Wednesday 6 November) in Glendenning.

Following a search of a property in Plumpton, police allegedly located 36 cannabis plants and a hydroponic setup. Officers also located and seized a number of items for forensic testing.

The man was taken to Riverstone Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and cultivate prohibited plant.

He was refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 7 November 2024).

Police will allege in court the two men weren’t known to each other.
